Beastie Boys (Rod Carew)
Hand-painted collectible baseball card
The Beastie Boys are famous for name droppin' in their lyrics. They shouted out pop culture, giving props to influential musicians, movie stars, and athletes... including many hometown heroes like the New York Knicks. A couple of the most memorable come off Paul's Boutique (1989), like AD-Rock rhyming about Dick Butkus on Get On the Mic:
"You say 'Fuck that,' yo homes fuck this. I'm the King Ad-Whammy, you're Dick Butkus"
Or all three (MCA, Mike D & Ad-Rock) swingin' some Phil Rizzuto on What Comes Around:
"Bum cheese on rye with ham and prosciutto. Got more louie than Philip Rizzuto"
However, my all-time favorite name drop is from Sure Shot on Ill Communication (1994). The remixed flute intro was obscure at the time, but iconic today... and about 1 minute into the song, Mike D busts out with:
"I got more action than my man John Woo, and I got mad hits like I was Rod Carew"
About my collector cards
After purchasing some old wax packs to study the size and texture of gum sticks, I developed my own paint techniques in order to replicate it. Now, I hand-paint bubble gum directly onto vintage baseball cards to create small collectibles.
Here's what you'll receive with this order
- My original hand-painted gum onto a baseball card.
- Each collector card is paint-marked with it's edition number.
- These art cards are protected inside an Ultra Pro One Touch magnetic card holder... customized with my matching Rosen signature label.
- I do not sign these cards by request. However, your package will include bonus items personally autographed by me.
Expected delivery time for pre-orders
Are you purchasing a pre-order? My pre-order listings are for card art that has not been painted yet. In most cases, I already have the card in stock to paint on, and will create your artwork within a few days of your purchase. Thanks for your patience.
