Hand-painted collectible art card
A commentary on the 2021 season. We're witnessing an unprecedented number of no-hitters. At the time of this Gum Drop (June 25th), there have been 7 no hitters this season... with the most recent, a combined 4 pitcher no-no by the Cubs at Dodger Stadium. Madison Bumgarner's 7-inning no-no should be viewed as the 8th no-no.
In my personal opinion, this is due to pitchers putting substances on the ball to generate excessively high spin rates, while the league turns their head the other way. This smells a lot like the steroid era. Will they eventually place asterisks on these junk ball no-nos?
This comic is inspired the back of the 1965 Topps Rick Wise. There are 8 zeroes in this illustration... matching my count of 8 no-nos on the season thus far. The gum is painted onto a heavy black card stock, and signed on the back. The small details of the pinstripes make this gum quite challenging to create... so it comes with a premium price compared to my similar works.
About my collector cards
After purchasing some old wax packs to study the size and texture of gum sticks, I developed my own paint techniques in order to replicate it. Now, I hand-paint bubble gum directly onto vintage baseball cards to create small collectibles.
Here's what you'll receive with this order
- My original hand-painted gum onto a baseball card.
- Each collector card is paint-marked with it's edition number.
- These art cards are protected inside an Ultra Pro One Touch magnetic card holder... customized with my matching Rosen signature label.
- I do not sign these cards by request. However, your package will include bonus items personally autographed by me.
