"Homer at the Bat" (Season 3, Episode 17) is an all-time Simpsons classic, and has been an inspiration for several pieces of my Gum Card art.
When the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant softball team makes it to the championship game, Mr. Burns bets them big to win... and brings in nine ringers. Home Run Homer, and is Wonderbat (a nod to Roy Hobbs in the Natural) gets replaced by Darryl Strawberry... while Clemens, Boggs, Griffey, Canseco, Mattingly, Scioscia, Steve Sax and Ozzie Smith all join the team. Trouble ensues for all of them.
A stroke of popness!
My brush stroke series is inspired by Andy Warhol's screen print process, in which he combined hand-painted backgrounds with photographic silkscreens.
