Shohei Ohtani is the 1st player in MLB history named an All-Star as both a hitter & pitcher... marking a rather historic moment. Just days before the 2021 mid-season All-Star game, Ohtani made history again with his 32nd HR. This set a new record for most homers in a season by a Japanese-born player in the Major Leagues, passing Hideki Matsui.
This brush stroke series honors Ohtani's accomplishments with a two-way card, based on the 1986 Topps All-Star design, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Each side features an Ohtani image over an abstract Japanese flag on heavy black card stock. One side highlights the All-Star as a Pitcher, the other as a DH. The card will be signed on the back.
A stroke of popness!
My brush stroke series is inspired by Andy Warhol's screen print process, in which he combined hand-painted backgrounds with photographic silkscreens.
